Medina Rain Grates, Prophet’s Mosque, Medina, Saudi Arabia

During the Hajj pilgrimage, the roof of the Prophet’s Mosque is utilized to take pilgrims. This has required that the architectural finish of the roof of this mosque be to an exceptionally high quality. In 1998, Jay Bonner was contracted by Dr. Bodo Rasch of Rasch-SL GmbH of Stuttgart, Germany, to design the ornamental rain grates that control the flow of water on this roof. These grates were fabricated in cast phosphorus bronze.
